THE VENUE(S)
Dar al Islam is a retreat center where communities can gather, reflect, pray, and learn. Located in the sweeping desert landscape of Abiquiu, New Mexico, Hassan Fathy’s historic architectural complex facilitates inclusive learning, spiritual contemplation, and thought leadership for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
We request that guests respect this sacred space by refraining from the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco while on the premises.
Located on the Dar al Islam campus is the incredible geological site, Plaza Blanca. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the area and are asked to be mindful of its fragile rock formation, soil, and vegetation.
Situated next to the Georgia O’Keefe home and studio museum, the Abiquiu Inn & Cafe offers adobe architecture, cozy fireplaces, garden terraces, and dining, providing a serene, high-desert retreat in the midst of New Mexico’s wild ranch lands.
ATTIRE
Attire for the ceremony and reception will be dressy-casual. Temperatures in New Mexico in late May can range from the high forties, before sunrise and after dusk, to the high seventies, midday. Guests are encouraged to dress accordingly. Layers are recommended. Dar al Islam is located next to Plaza Blanca, which guests may explore after the ceremony. Comfortable footwear is suggested.
CHILDREN
Children are welcome at all events. Upon request, childcare will be available at the reception.
